Meditation Trataka : a fixed look for an immobile spirit.
This medium of meditation serves to fix the base of the flame without blinking the eyes, in order to bring the purification of the mind concentrating all its energy (prana) on a precise point. Trataka is accessible to all and brings a good fact from the first practice.
Trataka is a meditation technique that focuses the eyes (and in turn the mind) through an intentional but relaxed look. Initially, this practice is done with the eyes open on an external object. It then progresses to internal practice (closed eyes) and to emptiness. Sometimes it's called tratak or tratika.
In all forms of trataka, you can incorporate breathing awareness or repetition of a mantra if you find it useful, although this is not usually taught in this way.

There has been very little scientific research in this practice (example). So, what we know in terms of benefits is primarily all anecdotal evidence from practitioners who have spent years practicing. In this context, trataka are given the following advantages:
- Improves concentration, memory and will
- Improves visualization skills
- Improves cognitive function
- Heal eye diseases
- Make your eyes stronger, clearer and brighter
- Help with insomnia
- Clears the accumulated mental / emotional complexes
- brings back deleted thoughts to the surface
- Increases nervous stability
- Calm the worried mind
- Balances activity in both hemispheres of the brain
- Improves vision in the dark (if practiced on a candle flame)
- Calming effect on the cranial nerves (Dr. Giridar Yogeshwar)
- Increases self-confidence and patience.
