More about the ingredients
We use Santalum spicatum, which grows in eastern Australia and has aromas very similar to those of Santalum album from India, which is a tree under ecological pressure. Australian Sandalwood is a controlled resource through plantations. When a tree is felled for our aromatic needs, two trees are replanted. Many synthetic perfumes seek to imitate its exceptional aromatic aura.
History of this incense
Made in Japan (Awaji Island), this traditional Japanese incense is inspired by the "Tale of Genji", a novel from the 10th century, the golden age of incense at the imperial court, just like the other incenses in this collection named Karin. It is an invitation to discover this magnificent novel and this era of flowering arts and development of the culture of the olfactory sense. Each noble courtier concocted his own perfume from precious woods and aromatics, which he impregnated into his clothes.
Why is this incense not labelled 100% natural?
In some recipes, we use a small proportion of artificial fragrances. For example, when the scents are not available in nature, are not olfactory powerful enough or when their use implies the destruction of natural resources currently under ecological pressure. We believe that only natural ingredients have a positive effect on health (aromatherapy - aromachology) and avoid synthetic ingredients as much as possible. We make sure that the 2-3% of artificial fragrance or colouring added in some recipes does not cause any health or well-being problems in the context of our use. We select precisely these components, discarding any that are potentially harmful. In this category of incense, from the point of view of their naturalness, we must objectively consider their positive influence thanks to the 97-98% of natural aromatic materials in their recipes. The 2-3% of synthetic ingredients selected for their harmlessness are neutral.
